Marine Drum & Bugle Corps Return to Mentor for 'Take Pride In America'

People can also check out the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon Wednesday at Jerome Osborne Stadium

People will be reminded why they can Take Pride In America Wednesday.

Both the Marine Drum & Bugle Corps and Silent Drill Platoon will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Jerome Osborne Stadium behind 

Additionally, people can watch as Marine Corps poolees from Lake County and all around the region are sworn into service at the 50-yard line after a special opening flag service by the Greater Cleveland Young Marines.

The Drum & Bugle Corps consists of about 85 Marine musicians. They perform military and popular music for spectators each year all around the country.

Meanwhile, the Silent Drill Platoon includes 24 Marines who perform an amazing, precision drill exhibition. Their routine ends with a unique rifle inspection that involves seemingly effortless spins, tosses and catches of the firearm.

The performances and swearing-in are in the evening. However, there will be plenty to see and do in the afternoon, as well.

The 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines, from Brook Park, will display Marine Corps field equipment, combat gear, weapons and vehicles around the stadium. Also, people can talk to  from Cleveland and Mentor.

Most importantly, the USO of Northern Ohio will collect items to send to Marines overseas from 1 to 7 p.m.

The entire event is free – including both the afternoon festivities and and the evening performances – and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
