Video: Mentor High Students Share Their Concerns With Eklund
Cardinals who attended State Sen. John Eklund's Q & A discuss the impact budget cuts have on school districts from their perspective
The Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a Q & A with State Sen. John Eklund Friday morning at Seeker's Coffee House in Mentor.
Members of the chamber asked Eklund (R-Munson Township) questions on topics as varied as bipartisanship, local tax collection and football fandom.
The two youngest people at the Q & A -- Mentor High students Maggie Davis and Kyle Muenker -- shared their perspective with Eklund on what dwindling revenue does to a school district.

Davis said it caused school programs to compete with each other for dollars and Muenker added that it ultimately limits the options available to students.
Eklund replied that it is "a crime" when schools have to cut programming. However, the responsibility ultimately falls with schools to convince voters of the need, he added.
