ReplyMentor City Manager Kenneth Filipiak said the purpose of the ordinance is to discourage deer from coming into residential parts of the city.
We can only hope that the deer read or are informed of the ordinance.

ReplyI don't want to be "off topic" but the attached documents show an agenda authorizing the city manager to conduct all kinds of business - not unusual. But where is the city's annual report on the city manager's performance. Where's the accountability? I suspect Mr Filipiak's priorities are being set by some influential land owners instead of overall quality of life in Mentor. It would be interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes in the city managers office. May some hungry reporter will start digging-

ReplyAll told the City of Mentor will kill over 200 deer within the last six months. Congrats welcome to everywhere! Now if we can just cut down some more trees, like at Bellflower and Center streets and build another building we don't need.

ReplyWay to go Ken! This will look impressive on your résumé. With all the issues the city has to deal with - you're spending $100,000 to kill deer. I read the paper each day and wonder where we could spend the money to better use? Mentor is starting to look a lot like every other Cleveland suburb. The deer should be your last concern. How about an article on Ken's other accomplishments noting when his contract is up for renewal!

ReplyIt's simple physics you can't get thrown 200 feet unless you are going over 60 mph. When your behavior is the direct cause of death you should get more than 90 days in jail. Defense attorneys deserve to feel some of the pain - how can they live with themselves. Sleep well...

ReplyHonestly, the must not be much going on in Mentor if this is one Mr. Filipiak's priorities. How about getting someone to manage the big loser of an ice arena that we have. Get someone like Iceland to come in and manage and market the place provide The City of Mentor with a check. Wow what an idea Ken. On the way to work today the deer I didn't see we're the healthiest deer I have never seen. Nice job City of Mentor...feeling like Euclid yet?
