Lake Catholic, Mentor Boys Basketball Teams Rout Opponents
Neither Perry nor Medina finished within 20 points of Lake Catholic or Mentor, respectively
Mentor and Lake Catholic boys basketball teams routed Medina and Perry, respectively, Tuesday night. Mentor shared the scoring with five Cardinals notching 11 or more points. Meanwhile, Lake Catholic leaned on a hot night from Zavier Powers. Powers led all scorers with 27 points. Mark Baniewicz scored 15 and Ben Meola -- whose last-moment heroics secured a win Friday against Archbishop Hoban -- had 11 for the Cougars. Lake Catholic (5-1) had control for most of the game. They led 36-16 at the half en route to a 74-42 win. Meanwhile, the Cardinals ground out an atypically slower paced game against Medina.
