Animal Emergency Clinic in Mentor Plans to Construct New Facility

The business recently received a conditional use permit from the city's planning commission

A Mentor animal hospital plans on constructing a new facility just west of the building it has been operating out of for about 25 years. Animal Emergency Clinic Northeast received a conditional use permit and preliminary site plan approval from the city to move forward with its construction plans at 8240 Tyler Blvd. The vacant, 1.2-acre site will be home to a 7,360 square-foot emergency care animal hospital that also offers veterinary specialty medicine.  Members of the Mentor Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve the permit and preliminary plan, Planning Director Ric Spence said. Revolution Boot Camp Coming to Mentor

The Planning Commission granted a conditional use permit for the business to open on Tyler Boulevard

The Mentor Planning Commission made way for a new fitness facility in the city at its most recent meeting. The Commission granted a conditional use permit to Revolution Boot Camp to offer group fitness classes at 7507 Tyler Blvd., Suite B. The 2,500 square-foot studio is part of a 6,420 square-foot, multi-tenant building that includes Techni Craft Auto Service. Commission voted unanimously in favor of the permit at the meeting on Thursday evening. Mentor Planning Administration Ric Spence said one the permit conditions is that applicants Lisa Schulze of Revolution Boot Camp and Pete Camarato of Tri-Cam Properties provide handicap parking with van accessibility and curb ramps, in accordance with the Ohio Accessibility Guidelines. Burger FI Awaits Another Planning Commission Vote

The Florida-based franchise has settled on a new location for its proposed Mentor location

Burger Fi still hopes to open its first Ohio restaurant in Mentor, just at a different location. The Florida-based franchise now wants to open at a site nearly a mile west of its original plan. This Thursday the Mentor Planning Commission will consider a conditional use permit request to re-image the building at 8748 Mentor Ave. to create a freestanding restaurant for burgers, hot dogs and frozen custard. The company decided against its former location at 9184 Mentor Ave. and now needs a building permit for its new selection, the former home of Little Mountain Farmers Market. Red Wine & Brew Co-Owner Discusses Vision for Mentor Location

Construction for the wine and beer retailer and bar will begin in October or November

The construction of a business that owners describe as the "Big Lots of wine and beer" could begin as early as next month. Residents shouldn't expect to see Red Wine & Brew open until next spring, but Dr. Chetan Patel hopes contractors will get to work in October or November. The store will be part retailer and part bar with an outdoor patio and lounge atmosphere. The Mentor Planning Commission approved the company's request to have a tasting room and patio at a meeting last week. Red Wine & Brew also has a location in Chester Township, though it is only a retail store. "This will be a wine bar for the age group, 25 to 55," Patel said. Mentor Planning Commission is scheduled to vote on a planned change to the reimaging of Great Lakes Mall's entrances during its meeting at 7 p.m. today in City Hall. The commission already approved the initial plans to redesign the mall's entrances. However, the mall's plans for its doorways and accompanying signage have since changed slightly, so it requires a new vote from the commission. The mall has already started internal renovations by replacing the flooring in the Macy's concourse. Internal changes don't require a vote from the Planning Commission. The commission unanimously voted in favor of the Mentor mall's planned outside signage and new entryways

Mentor Planning Commission reviewed and approved Great Lakes Mall's re-imaging plans for a redesign of its outside signs and entryways as part of a multimillion-dollar renovation. Tony Pestyk, the mall manager, and Doug Thompson, the vice president of the architectural firm behind the redesign, showed the commission renderings of its planned renovations Thursday night. The mall plans to have a redesigned, two-story glass entranceway into the food court with an extended paved walkway. It also intends to add an entrance on the mall's west side and redesign the mall's three existing entrances with new lighting and landscape features. The Mentor Planning Commission is scheduled to discuss part of Great Lakes Mall's planned renovation 7 p.m. today at its meeting. Specifically, the commission will review plans for the Mentor mall's redesigned entryways. The mall plans to have a redesigned, two-story glass entranceway into the food court with an extended paved walkway. It also intends to add an entrance on the mall's west side and redesign the mall's three existing entrances with new lighting and landscape features. The mall also plans to renovate its food court, switch its color scheme and change its flooring. However, internal changes do not require city approval. The Mentor Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. today in city hall. Commission members are scheduled to have a public hearing for a conditional use permit for a haunted house at 8200 Tyler Boulevard. Halloween Attractions LLC and Mentor Ind. Pk. Limited Partnership requested the permit. The commission might also discuss the possibility of a T-Mobile cell tower at 8350 Carpenter Drive.
