Francesca's Boutique Opens at Great Lakes Mall

The store offers trendy dresses, tops, scarfs, jewelry and more

Francesca's is no mom-and-pop boutique, but managers there take it as a compliment every time a shopper mistakes it for one. "A lot of people assume myself or the key-holders are the owner," manager Lola Jurewicz said. "When they leave, they say, 'We hope you make it.' "That's what we're going for as a company. There are a lot of stores you can walk into and it's clear it's a corporate store — that's the look we're going for. Every Francesca's is different." Houston-based Francesca's has more than 350 boutiques in 45 states. The company opened a Mentor location on April 20 in Great Lakes Mall. The store carries women's dresses, scarfs, accessories and more. You can also find humorous wall art with phrases like, "I don't have to flirt, I'll…

Man Accused of Spitting on Mentor Officer

Police say Gerald Stokely also pushed a Great Lakes Mall security guard

Mentor Police say a drunk man pushed security guard Tuesday afternoon and spit on a police officer. According to the department's Facebook page, officers responded to calls from Great Lakes Mall about a "belligerent" man who was causing a disturbance in the eastern portion of the mall. Before police arrived, a security guard approached 46-year-old Gerald Stokley of Painesville near Firestone. Police say he pushed the guard and began yelling obscenities. Responding officers arrested him for disorderly conduct and assault. When he got back to the police station, he threatened to kill an officer and spit on another, according to the report. Those actions landed him charges of aggravated menacing and felony harassment by inmate.

CT Consultants, Marous Brothers Construction and the Lake County Council on Aging helped United Way of Lake County kick off its annual Feed Lake County drive at Great Lakes Mall with thousands of donations that they used to create humongous replicas of some of their favorite foods. Twenty Marous employees used 1,040 cans and bottles to make a giant Jif Peanut Butter bottle to accompany its four-layered peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The individually donated Jif bottles had printed labels with the names of donating employees on them. "We did if last year, and this part of our outreach," Marous marketing coordinator Nikki Formica-Babb said. "…
