Let me begin by thanking everyone for their nominations, including the ones sent to me via Facebook and Twitter. All totalled, we have eight candidates for the best fish fry in Mentor. They are: Polls close 9 a.m. Friday. I'll announce the winner after that. By the way, you can add your parish's or restaurant's fish fry to our event calendar. It's a good way to let people know about it.

It's the season of the fish fry and the next Mentor Patch Readers' Choice poll will ask where is the area's best. Starting Wednesday, we'll have a poll and you'll be able to vote for your favorite. Mentor Patch readers said the Lakeshore Eatery serves their favorite burgers in the city, according to our Patch poll. Thank you to everyone who voted, as well as the other restaurants who were nominated. Just because Chase's Bar (also known as Delaney's,) Molinari's, Scooter's Dawghouse, Skye, Cabana's Island Restaurant, Ruby Tuesday's, Max & Erma's, Outback Steakhouse, and Quaker Steak & Lube weren't voted the favorite doesn't mean they don't serve some darn good burgers.
