Adopt-A-Pet: Sushi

Sushi was a stray but he is very affectionate and outgoing; also, he'd love to find a foreever home

Sushi is a 1-year-old domestic long hair tabby who is staying at Lake Humane Society but hoping for a forever home. He came to the shelter as a stray kitty. He is very affectionate and outgoing. Sadly, Sushi tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus so he must be the only cat in the home, as well as an indoor-only cat. But please don't let Sushi's FIV deter you. He is a beautiful boy with so much love to give. Like all cats at LHS, Sushi has been fixed, microchipped and given a physical by the shelter's vet. He is up-to-date on all vaccinations and has been combo tested. For more information on FIV, please click here. Adopt-A-Pet: Cammi

Cammi is a very sweet girl who loves to go for walks

Callie is an 11-month-old pit bull mix who cam to Lake Humane Society in November after being transferred from another facility that was full. She is a very sweet girl and she especially likes to be walked. She would be a great family dog and is wonderful with children (though she would be best matched in a family where the children are five and older.) However, admittedly, Cammi doesn't get along as well with cats. On a related note, ff you've been thinking about adopting a pet from Lake Humane Society, now is the time to make your move. For the next three days -- that is, until the end of January -- all adoption fees are half off. Dogs, cats, rabbits, whatever -- all half off. If you would like more information on Cammi or any of the …

Adopt-A-Pet: Callie

This affectionate kitty is available for adoption from the Lake Humane Society

Callie may seem a little nervous; but, once you get to know her, she is relaxed, affectionate and may be perfect for your family. Callie is 10 years old and she came to Lake Humane Society in August because her previous owner could no longer care for her. She can be a little slow to adjust to new surroundings but is comfortable sharing her home with dogs -- so other pets need not be a deterrent. Callie came to the shelter with her front paws declawed. She is also spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. All the animals at Lake Humane Society are half off for the entire month of January. That means a lucky, loving family can adopt Baby for $10. To view more animals available for adoption at Lake Humane Society, visit their …

Adopt-A-Pet: Snickers

This outgoing rabbit is a sweetie

Snickers is an outgoing rabbit who has been staying at Lake Humane Society since June but she's looking for a permanent home. She came to the shelter after her owner had to give her up. Snickers is two years old, litter box trained  and easy going. Like all animals at the shelter, she is up to date on her shots. Snickers would be well matched in a family with older children (10 or older) and might be good with younger kids. However, it would take a visit to say for certain. All the animals at Lake Humane Society are half off for the entire month of January. That means a lucky, loving family can adopt Snickers for $15. Adopt-A-Pet: Baby

Baby is a friendly and affectionate cat who is looking for a permanent home

Baby's a little older than his age would imply but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be perfect for your family. Baby is eight years old and he came to Lake Humane Society in September because his previous owner could no longer care for him. He is outgoing, friendly and affectionate. Baby gets along well with children but young kids -- say, those younger than 10 -- might be a little stressful for him. Baby came to the shelter with his front paws declawed. He is also neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. All the animals at Lake Humane Society are half off for the entire month of January. That means a lucky, loving family can adopt Baby for $10. To view more animals available for adoption at Lake Humane Society, visit their …

Adopt-A-Pet: Calvin

Calvin has been waiting for his forever home for more than a year

Calvin is a 10-year-old cat who came to Lake Humane Society more than a year ago and has been waiting for a loving home ever since. He is very friendly, independent and relaxed. Calvin would love a quiet home (with no other cats) in which he can live out his golden years. Calvin came to the shelter with his front and back paws declawed. He is also neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. Calvin is a special needs cat, so if you'd like more information, contact LHS at (440) 951-6122. Please help us find Calvin a loving home as soon as possible! To view more animals available for adoption at Lake Humane Society, visit their website: http://lakehumane.org/availablepets.html.

Adopt-A-Pet: Nina

Nina's resolution is to have a home for the new year

Nina is a sweet Border Collie mix who gets along well with people and other dogs. She is seven years old and may seem a little shy at first. But, once she gets to know you, she is a complete sweetheart. Nina has lived at Lake Humane Society since October because her previous owner could no longer care for her. And she would like to find a new home for the holidays. Like all the animals at the shelter, Nina is spayed and up to date on her shots. Through the month of December, people can adopt dogs for just $50 (when they are usually $70 to $130.) Similarly cats of any age can be adopted at the shelter for $20. (They are regularly $50 to $115.) For more information on Lake Humane Society, visit their web site at lakehumane.org.

Adopt-A-Pet: Shandi

Let's find Shandi a home for the holidays

If Shandi looks familiar that is because -- sadly -- she was adopted once before and then returned to Lake Humane Society. But one family's loss can be another's gain. This beautiful boxer mix is five years old. She is great with children. In fact, the Lake Humane staff will often take her to educational presentations because she's such a good ambassador. However, Shandi has less affection for cats and might be better matched in a house without any felines. Shandi is playful, affectionate and has already stolen the hearts of the staff and volunteers at Lake Humane Society. I bet she could swipe yours too. Like all the other animals at Lake Humane Society, Shandi is spayed and up to date on her shots. Through the month of December, people …

These two rabbits are looking for somebunny to love

Alma and Alaina are a cute pair of rabbits who are living at Lake Humane Society and looking for a forever home. They are a bonded pair. That means, in layman's terms, they're best friends and would prefer to be adopted together. They have been at the shelter since October 2011 and the Lake Humane shelter would really like to find these two a loving home for the holidays. Like all animals at the shelter, they are fixed and up to date on their vaccinations. Adopt-A-Pet: Rona

Rona has been housed at Lake Humane Society since April so let's find her a home for the holidays

Rona is a 2-year-old cat who has been living at Lake Humane Society since April but she would like to find a forever home for the holidays. Rona came to the shelter as a stray. She is a sweetie but would probably be best matched in a house with no kids or other pets. Like all the cats at Lake Humane Society, Rona is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on her vaccinations. It would only cost $20 to adopt Rona. In fact, through the month of December, people can adopt cats of any age at the shelter for $20. (They are regularly $50 to $115.) Similarly, dogs can be adopted for just $50 (when they are usually $70 to $130.) For more information on Lake Humane Society, visit their web site at lakehumane.org.
