The suspects claim they were trying to collect money for a computer job
Two men are accused of attacking a Mentor man with baseball bats after he failed to pay a debt. Victor Liggett-Paris, 27, of Mentor, and Levi Cruz, 26, of Chardon, visited the victim Monday afternoon at his home in the apartment complex at 6400 Center St., Mentor Police Lt. Tim Allen said. The suspects told police that they were collecting money for a computer job they did, Allen said. Liggett-Paris lured the victim -- a 40-year-old man -- out of his apartment, Allen said. Then Cruz and Liggett-Paris hit the man with bats and punched him,he told police. Next, the man told police that he ran back to his apartment, grabbed his baseball bat and chased Cruz and Liggett-Paris. The man recognized the suspects so he called Mentor Police and …
