Michael DuBois found his perfect pizza in Naples. Naples, Florida, to be specific. DuBois and his girlfriend were on vacation when they went to Tony Sacco's Coal Oven Pizza for dinner. "We had an amazing experience with the food," DuBois said. "Three days later, we came back and had another amazing experience with the food." Dubois's initial reaction to their pizza, which is cooked in the titular coal oven? "There's nothing like this in Ohio," he said. Well, thanks to DuBois, now there is. The sit-down pizza restaurant will open its first location in Mentor later this year
Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza will open its first location in Ohio at Great Lakes Mall later this year. The sit-down restaurant -- whose menu is in no way limited to pizza -- will include a full bar and have entrances both inside and outside of the mall. The restaurant will occupy about 4,ooo square feet on the west side of the property, next to the Dillard’s South building. The addition of Tony Sacco’s will also make way for a new mall entrance next to the restaurant. Tony Sacco’s Coal Oven Pizza is known its namesake -- a unique custom-built, 1,000 degree anthracite coal-burning oven. It uses the oven to make its traditional pizzas and specialties, including the Napoli with meatballs, ricotta and provolone and the BBQ with chicken, bacon …
