A man who accrued his eighth drunken driving conviction in July was sentenced to three years in prison Wednesday morning. Thomas Pepp, 48, was arrested earlier this year after he crashed his car on the interstate in Mentor and refused to take a breathalyzer test. He then pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated July 19. Lake County Court of Common Pleas Judge Joseph Gibson sentenced Pepp to three years in prison and fined him $1,350. He also revoked Pepp's license for five years and ordered him to undergo drug and alcohol treatment. Pepp, who lives in Perry, drove off the right side of the Route 2's eastbound lanes and crashed into a guardrail back in January, police said. When officers responded to the crash, they said Pepp…

A man was convicted of driving while drunk for the eighth time earlier this week in Lake County Court of Common Pleas. Thomas Pepp, 48, was arrested earlier this year after he crashed his car on the interstate in Mentor and refused to take a breathalyzer test. However, he pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated Wednesday. Judge Joseph Gibson scheduled his sentencing for August 22. Pepp, who lives in Perry, drove off the right side of the Route 2's eastbound lanes and crashed into a guardrail back in January, police said. A Perry man was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk after he crashed his car Thursday night in Mentor. He was already convicted of driving drunk seven times before, most recently in 2009, Mentor Police Lt. Ken Zbiegien said. Thomas Pepp, 48, drove off the right side of the Route 2's eastbound lanes Thursday night and crashed into a guardrail, Zbiegien said. When officers responded to the crash, they said Pepp had glossy eyes, slurred speech and the smell of alcohol on his breath. This guy will drive again before 5 yrs. After he has served 6 mo. of his 3 yr. sentence they will let him out and he will get behind the wheel of some car...if for no other reason than to get to the liquor store.   more ›
