It's about to get very cute and very festive
The 3- and 4-year-olds of Mentor High School’s Early Childhood Education career technical program performed holiday carols and its annual ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas play earlier this week. And it was cute. Really, really cute. Don't believe me? Watch the video. If you want to watch the 19-minute program in its entirety, it's posted at the Mentor Schools web site. (We just have a 3-minute snippet here.) So -- if you're having a stressful day or just want to enjoy something entirely devoid of cynicism -- kick back, relax and listen to kids sing about Santa.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command's job is to monitor the United States' and Canada's airspace for possible threats. But this time of year, NORAD tracks the least threatening (and most unusual) flying object of all -- Santa. The Colorado-based government agency again offers its Official Santa Tracker that follows the jolly one across the globe. Kids can countdown to Christmas as Santa flits from city to city and even track his progress on Google Earth. However, NORAD does not have access to the naughty and nice lists.

The city of Mentor kicked off the holiday season with its annual lighting ceremony Friday evening at the Commemorative Rose Garden. The choirs from Mentor United Methodist Church, as well as the kids at the lighting, sang Christmas carols while awaiting Santa's arrival. Once the jolly one arrived, he made sure to get every child's Christmas wish. After the event, the more than 100 who gathered could go to St. Mary of the Assumption across the street for refreshments. The holiday lighting -- an annual tradition in the city -- is organized by the Mentor Beautification Committee.
