The state has released the preliminary ratings for districts and schools and Mentor Schools was rated "excellent with distinction"
What do you do for an encore when your school district has been ranked excellent for six consecutive years? You get even better. The state has released the rest of the state report card information. And -- while the data is still preliminary -- as of now, Mentor Public Schools was ranked "excellent with distinction" -- the highest possible ranking. School and district report cards are usually released at the beginning of the school year, but that timeline has been pushed back while the state auditor investigates whether some districts manipulated attendance data. The Ohio Department of Education released report card information for Mentor Schools
The Ohio Department of Education released Mentor Schools' report card this morning; and the district did not just pass its tests, it aced most of them. For the sixth consecutive year, the district was ranked excellent. Moreover, its performance index score bumped from 102.4 last year to 103.8 now. The maximum possible performance score is 120. "We've raised our performance score every year for the last four years," Mentor Schools Superintendent Jacqueline Hoynes said during the Board of Education meeting Tuesday. The district also met the state's standards for adequate yearly progress in attendance, graduation, reading, mathematics and overall. Preliminary reports indicate that the school district has received the grade 'excellent' for the sixth consecutive year
Though the Ohio Department of Education will not release the official report cards for each school district until Wednesday, the Columbus Dispatch has published a database that lists the preliminary grade for every district in the state. That includes Mentor Schools, which received the grade of "excellent" for the sixth consecutive year. A spokesperson for the district confirmed that its preliminary results indicate it received a ranking of excellent. However, they declined to discuss any details until the report cards were officially released.
