Lake Humane Society held its annual Mutt Strut this weekend at Mentor City Hall
Lake Humane Society held its 18th annual Mutt Strut Saturday at Civic Center Park. Pooches and pet lovers helped raise money for the abandoned, injured and homeless animals at the shelter. If you're wondering what all those dogs are doing outside of Mentor City Hall today, it's not a puppy protest. It's the Lake Humane Society's 18th annual Mutt Strut. The annual event coincides with the animal shelter's 75th anniversary so they're hoping to make it the biggest Mutt Strut yet. The pledge walk is from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at Civic Center Park. It raises money for the abandoned, injured and homeless animals at Lake Humane Society. Even if you haven't raised pledge money to walk with your dog, you can still check out the event. The fee to attend is $15 for anyone older than 12 and $10 for anyone 12 or younger. The big day is still 19 full days away — plenty of time for you and your family to have fun raising a little money. The end result: the joy of fully participating in this popular event on Saturday, August 11, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Mentor Municipal Center. Raise $20 or more and get your $15 admission fee waived, with or without a canine companion at your powerful fundraising feet. Lake Humane's one-mile pledge walk attracts hundreds of supporters and generates tens of thousands of dollars for the cause each year. To celebrate its 75th anniversary, the agency set a lofty fundraising goal of $20,000 for 2012. That's a lot of care for those animals…

Walks, kisses, dips in the pool, treats and lots of excitement for a good cause, Lake Humane Society
Lake Humane Society had a great turnout at its annual Mutt Strut Saturday at Penitentiary Glen. Canines and their owners raised money for the local animal shelter and had a good time doing it. The weather was clear and cool, although some found a dip in the drinking pool just the thing to do.
