Mentor Chamber Announces Launch of VetsNet Program

More than 30 local businesses and organizations will offer discounts to veterans and those serving in the United States armed forces

The Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce has launched the Mentor VetsNet program, in which more than 30 local businesses and organizations will offer discounts to veterans, reserve and active duty service members. "Mentor VetsNet provides tangible recognition and gratitude for the service given by the men and women of our armed forces past and present – it is a way to honor and support those who have given their all to guarantee our freedom," said Kevin Malecek, the chamber's president and CEO. Malecek added that area businesses offered overwhelming support and enthusiasm for the new initiative. City, Mentor Chamber Discuss New Mentor Vets Net Initiative

The program will provide discounts from the city of Mentor and local businesses for veterans and still serving members of the military

The city of Mentor and the Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce discussed its new Mentor Vets Net initiative during a work session Tuesday at City Hall. The program would offer discounts from the city and local businesses to veterans and people actively serving in the military. "We're looking for opportunities to say 'thanks' to the veterans who have served," Filipiak said. Filipiak added that the city has never had a program for active duty personnel or recently decommissioned members. For the city's part, Filipiak said he would like to offer military members and veterans the same discounts that seniors receive on Mentor Parks and Recreation programs and events.
