Whether you're a student going to class or a citizen visiting a grocer, the city hopes you'll wear Cardinal red tomorrow

The championship represents the fourth state title in school history, accompanying 1994 boys soccer, 1985 boys cross country and 1933 boys track. Filipiak talks about the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy and the cost associated with President Barack Obama's visit
Following the passage of ordinances regarding inter-fund transfers and road projects near centerpiece properties, City Manager Ken Filipiak offered reflections on a hectic week in Mentor. "With the remnants and impact of Hurricane Sandy — it certainly had an impact on Lake County and the City of Mentor — as well as the presidential visit last Satruday, it's been a very busy week in Mentor," Filipiak said. "We just wanted to thank the public for their patience and community spirit shown. "There were a great number of inconveniences that our residents had to incur as a result of both of those events." During the city manager's report Monday at the Mentor City Council meeting, Filipiak said no deaths or major injuries were reported during the…

The meeting begins tonight at 7 p.m.
With the year winding down, the city will ask its governing body to approve a slew of inter-fund transfers and appropriations at tonight's Mentor City Council Meeting. The fiscal revisions on tonight's agenda include: An ordinance authorizing the infrastructure improvement of a few properties to be a "public purpose" is also on the agenda. Because the city believes the commercial improvements would produce jobs and more income revenue, a public purpose would make these properties exempt from taxation. However, the owners would need to pay semiannual service payments for the same amount as the real property taxes would have been. Under this agreement, the school district and library district would receive a portion of the service payments …

Heron & Sons Decorative Concrete and O'Connor Plumbing have offered to purchase the lot for $35,000. Both businesses rent property in the city but they would rather co-own the Hamilton Drive property. "They see this as an opportunity to make an investment and solidify their roots in the community," said Ron Traub, the director of economic development for the city of Mentor, before the Council meeting. This is the first land-bank lot in Heisley Road Commerce Park the city has sold in more than 10 years. Mentor used to have 23 lots in the area and only five remain…

Because the only thing that matters is football or basketball. Nothing else. This city/school district is so full of themselves. Please make it stop already. Enough about the basketball team winning. Let's move on people. But, when you can't win one and you finally do after years of saying how good all your teams are and all the hype, I guess you have to milk it for months.   more ›
