Mentor High football coach says he appreciates the honor but says "it will always be about the school and kids"
Steve Trivisonno doesn't remember how many conference championships he's won in his 16 years as the head coach of the Mentor High football team. It's not false modesty either. He legitimately doesn't recall. "I don't know," he said. "Maybe eight." Trivisonno wants his teams to win -- and they often do -- but he doesn't fixate on that. "We're going to win," he reflected, while standing on the sideline during the Mentor Youth Football Camp. "It's never been about that. If you do things right, you're going to win." Four Dates Available; Pup Packages Also Available at Progressive Field in August
Our boys of summer need us. I'm no sports writer, but with a record of 26-29 thus far this season – and that's doing better away than home (15-14 vs. 11-15), not including Sunday's home game – the Lake County Captains are clearly missing that essential hometown spark. What can we do? Slather on the sunscreen, hit the ballpark, raise your voice (or just fill a seat) and take in a Captains game this summer. Ladies & Gentlemen Salon is raising money for the United Way of Lake County by swinging for the fences

The employees of Ladies & Gentlemen Salon & Day Spa are better known for their skills in the beauty shop than on the baseball diamond; but they will be swinging their bats for a good cause this Sunday. The Mentor salon will compete against John Roberts Salon in a charity softball game 4:30 p.m. at Classic Park in Eastlake. All the money from tickets sold will go to worthwhile causes. The ladies and gentleman of Ladies & Gentlemen will donate their proceeds to the United Way of Lake County. Meanwhile, their Mayfield Heights counterparts are boosting Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital.
