Lake Catholic Wrestler Wins State Championship

Anthony Tutolo comes out on top in his second-straight trip to states

A Lake Catholic High School junior claimed the top spot in this weekend's Division II state wrestling tournament. Anthony Tutolo won the 126-pound championship after defeating Mike Rix of St. Vincent-St. Mary, 6-4. As a team, Lake Catholic took 12th place in the tournament, according to OHSAA's final standings. "Everything that I've been working for, all that extra practice, it helped me come through," Anthony told The News-Herald after the win. "It's exactly what I dreamed of as a little kid, watching everybody reach their dreams. "Now I'm doing it. I can't believe it. It's a great feeling." It was Anthony's second straight trip to states. Teammates Brad Taton and Jimmy Szep each finished in seventh place in the 113-pound and 195-pound …

Mentor & Lake Catholic Wrestlers Head to States

The four wrestlers will compete in the tournaments for Divisions I and II, beginning Thursday

Four wrestlers from the two high schools in Mentor will participate in the Ohio State Divisions I and II Wrestling Tournaments. According to the OHSAA pairings, Lake Catholic High School will send these three wrestlers to the Division II tournament: Mentor High School senior Colin Kramer will wrestle in the 113 lbs. weight class of the Division I tournament. The tournament begins Thursday morning at the Jerome Schottenstein Center on the Columbus campus of The Ohio State University. The three-day event will wrap up after the first-place matches at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. Click here for the full event schedule.
