John Lane said he doesn't really know why he robbed three businesses in Mentor, Concord Township and Willoughby in the span of three days. "It was a weird week and I definitely made some bad choices," Lane told Lake County Common Pleas Judge Richard Collins Jr. when he was sentenced Tuesday morning. Lane, 34, of Mentor, pleaded guilty to three counts of robbery and another charge of attempted failing to comply with an officer Collins' court. A man wanted in armed robberies that happened in Mentor and Concord Township was arrested after a police chase in Huron County Thursday, according to the Sandusky Register. A Wakeman police officer spotted the car of John Lane II, ran his license plate and found the Lane had two warrants issued for his arrest. When the officer tried to pull Lane over, he took off, driving as fast as 110 mph. Huron County Sheriff’s Capt. Ted Patrick told the Sandusky Register that Lane threw both money and drugs out of his car window while trying to escape. Lane finally crashed into a pole on a side street in Norwalk. Mentor Police have identified a suspect in the Shell Station robbery that happened Sunday night and issued a warrant for the man's arrest. John Lane II is accused of aggravated robbery. If anyone knows of Lane's whereabouts or sees him, he or she is asked to call the Mentor Police at 440-974-5760. Lane is considered armed and dangerous and police have instructed people not to approach him. He was last seen in his 2001 Blue Honda with an Ohio license plate, FNL1692. Police think Lane is the man who walked into the Shell gas station by himself at 10:11 p.m. Sunday.
