Lake Catholic Hockey Sweeps Cougars Holiday Extravaganza Tournament

Varsity team went 5-0 on way to the tournament championship

Lake Catholic hockey coach Ryan Okicki said he wanted to get his team on track during the Cougars Holidays Extravaganza Tournament and that's exactly what happened. Lake Catholic Opens Holiday Tournament Against Mentor

Host Cougars hope to get season back on track in hockey event

Lake Catholic head hockey coach Ryan Okicki truly hopes the good tidings and the blessings of the season will find the Cougars in good spirits during the Fourth Annual Lake Catholic Hockey Holiday Extravaganza that begins today at the Mentor Ice Arena. After all, the Cougars could really use it. Okicki’s maiden voyage as the team’s head coach has been met with some disappointment as his team heads into the tournament possessing a 6-6-1 overall record and a 0-3-1 mark in the Red North. But Okicki believes the tournament, which finishes on Thursday, might be the very thing that allows the Cougars to get on a run despite a lot of tough opposition in the field. “With the competition, I think we’ll fair pretty well. We played Cincinnati  …

Lake Catholic Hockey Team Going For A More Explosive Offense

New coach Okicki looks to pick up the tempo

Not unlike in the Wizard of Oz, Lake Catholic head hockey coach Ryan Okicki wants you to pay little attention to Wednesday’s 7-2 loss to St. Ignatius. Heading into tonight’s 9 p.m. tussle at Shaker Heights, Okicki would rather put the whole affair behind him and turn your attention to the team’s 3-1 mark in the recent DiPaolo Memorial Thanksgiving Tournament held at Oxford. It’s not that he doesn’t want to acknowledge what happened against the Wildcats, it’s just that some nights aren’t your night, and it’s best to move on and look to the future. “It’s kind of tough to talk about it,” Okicki said of the St. Ignatius game. No worries really. After all, St. Ignatius is tough in just about everything. What’s most important is that Wednesday’s…
