Restaurant's owner announces retirement via Facebook
After just a year in business, Frank and Pauly's Italian American Restaurant is leaving Mentor. "Frank and Pauly's has now closed its doors," owner Dennis Koury wrote on the restaurant's Facebook page on Friday. "I am going back to retirement. Thank you all for your support & loyalty." The restaurant opened for dinner on Feb. 1, 2012 to a community that was excited to see a new business in the Sawyer Home at 9470 Mentor Ave. The Lake County landmark on the National Register of Historic places had been empty since Mark Fuerst closed his restaurants in 2008. U.S. Senate candidate, Josh Mandel, spoke to members of the Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce Wednesday
Ohio Treasurer and U.S. Senate Candidate Josh Mandel met with business owners from the Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce for a Q & A Wednesday morning at Frank & Pauly's restaurant. Mandel discussed how the treasurer's office has fared during his tenure, including the state's fiscal health and how the stewardship of the State Treasury Asset Reserve (STAR) of Ohio will change so more community banks can participate. We'll post more video of Mandel's talk later this week in which he answers questions from Mentor business owners.

Gourmands enjoyed food, drink and good company from more than a dozen Mentor eateries
The Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce held its first ever restaurant showcase Wednesday at Mentor Beach Park. More than dozen local restaurants and caterers offered samples of some of their signature dishes, including: Additionally, World of Wines & Liquor provided drinks for the event. Toward the conclusion of the event, Chamber President Kevin Malecek told the crowd of about 90, "With the restaurants we have here, we have one of the finest dining locations in the country."

The award-winning Italian restaurant will begin serving dinner Feb. 1
Frank and Pauly's, an award-winning Italian restaurant, has found the historic Sawyer Home in Mentor and it feels so good. In 1993, Frank and Pauly's opened in the BP Building in downtown Cleveland. It built a reputation with its family-style portions and popular dishes. However, it closed in 2006 and then its original owner, Wayne Koury, passed away. Meanwhile, the Sawyer Home -- a Lake County landmark that's on the National Register of Historic places -- was left without a tenant when Mark Fuerst closed his restaurants in 2008.
