How Many Drinks Will Get You A DUI? (Chart)

If you insist on driving after a few drinks, here's what you should know about how alcohol affects your system and your criminal record.

Do you know how many drinks you can have before you're in danger of getting a drunken driving violation?  As we head into the holiday season, Patch wants you to know when enough is enough. When police pull drivers over for suspected drunken driving, officers ask them to perform field sobriety tests and to take a breath test to measure Blood Alcohol Content. A BAC test measures the percentage of alcohol present in a person's bloodstream. Ohio's legal limit is 0.08. According to the Virginia Tech Alcohol Abuse Prevention website, every 40 minutes, 0.01 percent of alcohol leaves your system.  The limit for people younger than 21 is 0.02. Man Faces His Eighth Drunken Driving Conviction

Richard Brichacek was arrested Thursday by Mentor Police

A Brecksville man faces his eighth conviction for drunken driving after he was arrested by police Thursday in Mentor. At about 10:30 p.m., Mentor-on-the-Lake police were called about a man driving erratically in a red truck, Mentor Police Lt. Ken Zbiegien said. The truck was found parked partially on a lawn in the 6100 block of Cedarwood Road, Zbiegien said. Because the truck was in Mentor, Mentor police were called. The driver, 53-year-old Richard Brichacek, stumbled as he got out of the truck, Zbiegien said. He also had glassy eyes and smelled of alcohol, the lieutenant said. Brichacek refused to use a breathalyzer or take any field sobriety tests so he was arrested and charged with driving while drunk. He has seven previous drunken …
