Deepwood/Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities cap Awareness Month with second ever Deepwood Idol competition
The Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities held its second ever Deepwood Idol competition Saturday at the Great Lakes Mall. While its vocational guidance center holds a talent competition every year, this is the second time Deepwood has had a contest for all of its programs -- from the VGC to Broadmoor. Deepwood clients sang everything from Carly Rae Jepson and Elton John and danced to Maroon 5 and Elvis for a crowd of more than 500 people. Enjoy our video and photos from the event. I saw a lot of of you with cameras, also, so feel free to add your pics and clips to our gallery.

Workers from Deepwood's Vocational Guidance Center took part in an "American Idol" competition for the right to move on to the finals
One performer asked the crowd to "Call Me Maybe," while a tap dancer was all smiles while "Puttin' on the Ritz." There was never a dull moment at Thursday's VGC Idol competition, hosted at the Deepwood Vocational Guidance Center. While every act kept the audience enthused, Jonathan Wright and Carol Jamieson came out on top with their rendition of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing." They will be among the performers to take part in the Deepwood Idol final competition March 30 at Great Lakes Mall on March 30. Here are the other winners, as selected by judges Asa Cox, Patty Harkin, Dawn Kendrick, and Amy Pawling: The event is part of the Lake County Board of DD's Developmental Disabilities Awarness Month activities.
