Planning Commission Approves Sheetz's Final Plan

Planning Commission also approved the permit for a pool hall in Mentor Headlands

"It's been a long haul but we think it will be a great location," Dale Markowitz said after thanking the Planning Commission during its meeting Thursday. Markowitz is the attorney for the Sheetz service station project at Eckley's Corner; and, two years after the Planning Commission originally approved the permits for the project, the Commision approved Sheetz's final site plan. Planning Commission Tables Pool Hall Permit

The commission decided to not vote on the proposed pool hall in the Headlands so it can get together a security plan

The Planning Commission can vote on requested permits for several businesses that are looking to move in and into Mentor during its meeting 7 p.m. today at City Hall. For example, a pair of entrepreneurs would like to open a pool hall and game room in the former AMVETs building at 4679 Corduroy Road. The pool hall, Cy's Place, would have a pair of pool tables, darts, ping-pong, foosball, air hockey, corn hole and a snack shop, according to the report that was prepared for the Planning Commission. What it would not have is a liquor license. Charles Young and Joseph Short, the applicants, said the business will not serve beer or alcohol. The business has requested a conditional use permit to run the pool hall, as well as another permit to …
