City Council Votes Down Auto Repair/Sale Business on Heisley

City code does not permit used car sales in Mentor unless it's tied to a place that also sells new cars

Mentor City Council unanimously voted against letting Chaim Weizner run an auto repair business that would also sell its repaired cars. Weizner runs A2B Autos Sales at 5879 Heisley Road. It purchases cars from an auction, fixes them and auctions them to dealers. Until recently, he did this without the necessary permits from the city. And, on Tuesday night, Council denied him a conditional-use permit because it violates the city's code. "There's nothing wrong with used car dealers," Mentor Law Director Richard Hennig said. "They're all over the place. But, in Mentor, we have a standard that used car sales must be done in conjunction with new car sales and that's they way it's been for decades."
