Teen Arraigned On Drug Charge After He Overdoses

Timothy Throop is accused of abusing heroin

A teen was arraigned on a charge of drug abuse after he overdosed at Studio 6 hotel in Mentor, according to police. Though 19-year-old Timothy Throop was arraigned Friday in Mentor Municipal Court, the incident that led to the charge occurred Oct. 12. Throop, Steven Gatchel, Ashley Korb and Rostislav Ryazanskiy bought some heroin and returned to the hotel to use it, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said previously. When they did, Throop overdosed. The people with him called paramedics who took Throop to Lake West Medical Center where he recovered. Since that day, Korb and Ryazansiy have both been arrested for chauffering their child while high on heroin, Powers said. They both were convicted of drug charges. Gatchel was also convicted of …

Couple Convicted Of Child Endangerment For Chauffering Kid While High On Heroin

Rostislav Ryazanskiy and Ashley Korb were both also convicted of operating a vehicle while intoxicated

Maybe it was a copycat crime. First, a man -- Rostislav Ryazanskiy -- was arrested for driving around his 4-month-old child while he was high on heroin, police said. Ryazanskiy was charged with child endangerment and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Then, Ryazanskiy's girlfriend and the mother of his his -- Ashley Korb -- was arrested the next day for the same thing. Police charged her with the same crimes as Ryazanskiy. They also faced drug charges, including drug abuse and permitting drug abuse. Since their arrest, both have pleaded guilty to the OVI and child endangerment. Korb pleaded guilty Nov. 9 in Mentor Municipal Court and will be sentenced Dec. 12. Ryazanskiy also pleaded guilty to an additional charge of permitting drug …

Man Faces Felony Drug Charges After Friend Overdoses

Steven Gatchel is accused of abusing heroin and corrupting others with drugs

A man is accused of abusing heroin and corrupting others with drugs after a friend of his overdosed at Studio 6 hotel. Steven Gatchel, 18, of Painesville, was arraigned on the felony drug charges Monday in Mentor Municipal Court. However, the incident from which the charges stem happened on Oct. 12. Gatchel, Timothy Throop, Ashley Korb and Rostislav Ryazanskiy discussed getting some heroin that day, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said. "Gatchel says, 'I know someone we can get it from,'" Powers said. So the quartet drove to Cleveland, bought heroin from someone Gatchel knows and returned to Mentor, Powers said. Couple Faces OVI, Child Endangering Charges

One day after the man was accused of chauffering his 4-month-old child while on drugs, the woman faces the same charges

One day after Rostislav Ryazanskiy was charged with driving while on drugs and child endangering -- he is accused of chauffering his 4-month-old child while high on heroin -- his girlfriend was arrested on the same charges. Police received a call about someone driving an orange Jeep erratically Monday evening in the area of Route 306 near the Route 2 exit in Mentor, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said. When police officers caught up with the Jeep at the Studio 6 hotel, they learned the driver was 28-year-old Ashley Korb. Korb's boyfriend and the father of her 4-month-old child, Ryazanskiy, had been arrested Sunday. When police stopped him for driving erratically he had told them that he had taken heroin, Powers said.
