No need to check out the skies of Mentor on Christmas Eve to see if Santa Claus is really coming to town. You can track the Jolly Old Elf the high-tech way. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is charged with keeping the United States and Canada safe from dangers originating from the sky or space. For Christmas, however, the Colorado-based government agency adds one more important task to its daily list of duties. The agency will again provide its Official Santa Tracker that marks The Big Man's every move as he makes his way throughout both hemispheres. New apps give round-the-clock access to the library’s catalog and services, as well as a way to use a smartphone as a digital library card.
The Mentor Public Library has launched two new mobile apps, CardStar and Boopsie, both are free new service for patrons. With the use of these smartphone apps, patrons not only will be able to have round-the-clock access to the library’s catalog and services, but also have an on-hand digital Mentor Public Library card. Patrons can search in the smartphone app store under “Mentor Public Library” to find these free apps. The MPL Mobile app, developed by Boopsie for Libraries, offers patrons anytime access to the library’s catalog content, reading lists, event calendar and social media networks. “Patrons are able to have real-time access to materials and have the ability to manage their accounts, including placing holds and renewals,” MPL …
