Fire Station 5 is the headquarters for the Mentor Fire Department. In addition to housing fire trucks, ambulances andMore the on-shift battalion chief, it also contains the city's police and fire dispatching center. The station was built in 1971 and remodeled considerably in 2003. The Mentor Fire Department also provides ambulance and emergency medical services for the city's citizenry. It is overseen by Fire Chief Richard Harvey.

The Lake County Emergency Operations Center houses three different departments: The county's Emergency ManagementMore Agency, which is led by Director Larry Greene; the telecommunications center, led by Paul Stefanko; and the dispatch center, which is operated by the Lake County Sheriff's Office. The dispatch center, led by lieutenant Cynthia Baker, runs dispatch for the sheriff's office, Kirtland Hills Police Department, Timberlake Police Department, and every county police department east of Mentor except for Madison Township.
