This fire station replaced the city's oldest, which was on Jackson Road, in 1990. In addition to housing a ladderMore truck and ambulance, this station also has a grass truck that can be used during fires in the Mentor Marsh, and a Lake County hazardous-materials truck that is used when responding to chemical spills.

The fire department is headed by Chief Richard Harvey.

In addition to fire trucks and an ambulance, the City of Mentor Fire Station 4 also houses the city's technicalMore rescue trailer and dive truck. The fire department uses this for more complicated rescues -- for example, when someone has fallen down a ravine or is in a collapsed building. The department also provides ambulance and emergency medical services to the residents.

Fire Station 4 was built in 1971, and its predecessor is located directly behind it.
