The former Mentor Village Hall and Fire Station have different purposes now. The village hall was built in 1856 as theMore first home of the Mentor Christian Church. Then, it served as the fledgling village's council hall. Now, it can be rented for bridal showers and other celebrations. The city's first fire station, which is next door to the village hall, is now the Mentor Fire Museum and Safety Village. In addition to fire trucks and an ambulance, the City of Mentor Fire Station 4 also houses the city's technicalMore rescue trailer and dive truck. The fire department uses this for more complicated rescues -- for example, when someone has fallen down a ravine or is in a collapsed building. The department also provides ambulance and emergency medical services to the residents.

Fire Station 4 was built in 1971, and its predecessor is located directly behind it.
