United Way Looking For 'Day Of Caring' Volunteers

Agents can also submit projects that volunteers can work on during the 20th annual Day of Caring

The is looking for both volunteers and projects for its 20th annual Day of Caring.

On the Day of Caring, area companies, schools, service clubs and other interested individuals volunteer to adopt 1-day projects that have been submitted by local nonprofit organizations.

The projects can be on behalf of people in need or organizations with limited resources.

For example, previous Day of Caring projects have included building a ramp for a wheelchair-bound senior and helping refurbish the grounds at .

Projects may be large or small in scale and may involve activities such as landscaping, painting or cleaning. Others may involve social activities, such as an outing for nursing home residents, an ice cream social with seniors or a picnic for members of a parenting support group.

Agencies can submit as many projects as they like. However, the United Way cannot guarantee that each project will be adopted. We do encourage multiple submissions.

This year's Day of Caring -- the 20th overall -- will be on June 20.

Agencies who would like to submit a project should contact Nick Carrabine at 440-639-1131 or NCarrabine@UWLC.org. Project applications are due on or before Friday, May 18.

The deadline for businesses to volunteer is Friday, May 25.
