Local Salons Square Off in Charity Softball Game Sunday

Ladies & Gentlemen Salon is raising money for the United Way of Lake County by swinging for the fences

The employees of  are better known for their skills in the beauty shop than on the baseball diamond; but they will be swinging their bats for a good cause this Sunday.

The Mentor salon will compete against  in a charity softball game 4:30 p.m. at Classic Park in Eastlake.

All the money from tickets sold will go to worthwhile causes. The ladies and gentleman of Ladies & Gentlemen will donate their proceeds to the . Meanwhile, their Mayfield Heights counterparts are boosting Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital.

This game is a rematch and John Roberts won last time, so the honor of Lake County's beauticians and masseuses will be on the line.

"We hope to have a lot of fun but we remember that it's all for charity," said Amanda Tanski, who works at Ladies & Gentlemen.

The Mentor salon has supported the local chapter of the United Way for years. Its owners, Ed and Nancy Brown, are on the UWLC's board.

Tickets for the game cost $5. They can be purchased at Classic Park on the day of the game, from either salon beforehand or on the UWLC's website.
