Lake Health, Local Salons Collecting Bras for Domestic Violence Survivors

The bras will be given to victims of domestic violence or recycled with any income going to local organizations that benefit women

and several local salons will be collecting used, unloved or unwearable bras this month.

They have teamed with the Bra Recyclers, a textile recycling company that specializes in used an unused bras.

They will take the donated bras and either give them directly to women escaping domestic violence or recycle the bra and donate any generated money to local organizations benefiting women.

Participating salons and drop-off sites include:

  • Avanti Salon
  • Bella Donna Salon & Spa
  • Bixel's Salon & Spa Studio
  • Jack Arra's Salon & Spa
  • Marci's Hair on the Square
  • New Design Salon & Spa

Anyone who donates a bra will receive a coupon for 10 percent off a product or service at one of the salons listed above.

All bras should be washed before they are donated. All types of bras are accepted, including surgery bras, maternity bras and sports bras.

The bra recycling drive goes until Oct. 29.
