Santana Tribute Band Rocks Audience During Mentor’s ‘Concerts In The Park’ Series

Series showcases variety of different genres, last show next Tuesday

Evil Ways gave the audience more than “a little bit of this and a little bit of that” as the Santana tribute band rocked the Mentor Community Center on Tuesday night.

Roughly 150 people, including Mentor resident Loretta Planavsky, packed into the room above the ice arena to see the show, which is part of the summer Concerts In The Park series.

“They always have good bands and the people are really friendly,” Planavsky said.

Planavsky said she tries to attend every show as she lives only a few blocks away.

The concert series started in 1988 and is usually in the amphitheater, but the threat of rain moved the show inside.

Performances range from classic rock, country and Motown music as a way to provide residents with entertainment during the summer, said Len Zito, director of outdoor activities for the parks and recreation department.

The series is presented by Dollar Bank and 23 other area businesses.

As the smooth Latin sounds of Santana filled the room, heads bobbed to the rhythm of the guitar and feet to the beat of the drums.

“It’s nice,” Planavsky said from her seat in the back of the room. “You become more aware of different bands. I like the variety.”

Miss the gig? Don’t worry. The last show of the series is July 30 at 7 p.m.
