Five Ways to Stay Cool Today in Mentor

The sun may be blazing but Mentor Patch has five ways for you to chill out

It's supposed to be hot again today.

The heat index is supposed to creep into the triple digits and the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory that doesn't expire until 9 p.m. today.

(Just keep telling yourself, "This is better than snow. This is better than snow.")

But if all this heat and humidity are getting you down, here are some great ways to stay cool in Mentor. Feel free to add your own.

1. The city's three pools (at , and ) and two splash parks are open for the season.

2. Retail therapy. Not that you needed one more reason to visit Great Lakes Mall, but it has air conditioning.

3. We still scream for ice cream -- frozen yogurt too. Whether you're preference be East Coast Custard, , or , Mentor has plenty of parlors that dish out the good stuff.

4. Maybe you crave something cool to drink. You could get iced coffee from   in . Mentor Patch likes to buy local so our favorites are  and .

5. Read a book at . In addition to being air conditioned, the library has cool events for all ages every week. It's a whole lot better than staying home and melting.
