5 Things You Won’t Want To Miss At Mentor's Beachfest

Festival will feature kayaking, sand sculpting, boating and more.

With activities covering Headlands Beach all day during the Mentor's first-ever Beachfest, it can be easy to get lost all the events.

Here are some things you won’t want to miss during the free festival, which is July 27, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • World Champion and Cleveland native Carl Jara will be sculpting a sandy work of art throughout the day. You might want to put down your bucket and watch.
  • Ever wanted to learn how to paddleboard, kayak, or sail a boat? You can for free all day on the West end of the beach with the help of Lake Metroparks and Mentor Recreation.
  • Keep your kids entertained by taking them to the Kite Tent, where they can make and fly their own kites for $3.
  • Test your skills as a craftsman during the Amateur Sandcastle Building Contest on the East Beach at various times between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Admission and parking are free.
