Trubisky & Jurevicius Make Plain Dealer's Top 50 of Last 50 Years

Mentor's Mitch Trubisky ranked No. 15, while Lake Catholic legend Joe Jurevicius placed No. 20.

The Plain Dealer ranked the top 50 Northeast Ohio football players of the past 50 years, and two legends from schools in Mentor made the top half.

Joe Jurevicius, a 1993 Lake Catholic graduate and formerly of the Cleveland Browns, was ranked No. 20 by the panel. He led the Cougars to four straight North Coast League titles and caught 80 passes his last two seasons.

Mentor High School's Mitch Trubisky ranked No. 15. Now a North Carolina Tar Heel, Trubisky was named Mr. Football by the Associated Press in 2012. The 2013 graduate shattered several Mentor records last season with 1,129 yards rushing, 4,065 yards passing and a total of 60 touchdowns.

Euclid great Robert Smith was named the top player of the past 50 years.
