Photo Gallery: Mentor High Football Team Teaches The Next Generation Of Cardinals

The Cardinals held a football training camp for the first through sixth graders this week

One of the reasons the football program has had so much success is because of the youth camps and leagues in the city that teach fundamentals to elementary and middle school students.

This week, Mentor High football coach Steve Trivisonno, his coaches and players helped teach the basics to Mentor's first through sixth graders at Jerome Osborne Stadium.

"When you're trying to build a football program, you start from the bottom up," Trivisonno explained.

The kids developed their skills on offense, defense and special teams skills while receiving individual instruction from coaches and Mentor Cardinals.

Each day ended with a touch football game.

The kids had fun learning and, one day in the not-too-distant future, many of them will play on the same field as Mentor Cardinals.
