Mentor Students Wear Green in Honor of Michael Robinson

The greened-out student section honored Lake Catholic graduate Michael Robinson, whose body was found last week in an Ohio University dorm.

Mentor students gave up Cardinal red Friday night in favor of green shirts, bandanas and painted bodies in honor of No. 10 from a different team.

The school hosted a "green-out" during the matchup with St. Ignatius in memory of Michael Robinson, the 2013 Lake Catholic graduate whose body was found in his dorm at Ohio University.

"It's just love, community," said Monica Eckford, a Lake Catholic freshman who is friends with Michael's younger brother.

Steven Loiczly, a junior at Mentor, went to All Saints Elementary School with Michael. He wasn't surprised that the memory of his friend received support from many in Friday's crowd of 8,500.

"Everybody loved him," Steven said. "He was a real cool guy, down to Earth. Wonderful guy."

Jemille Coleman attends neither school, but decided to wear green at the game to acknowledge the community's loss.

"I just wanted to show my support for him, for his family and all of Lake Catholic," said Jemille, a junior at Brush High School.
