The Mentor Cardinals softball team defeated Solon 2-1 after a stunning double play to end the game.

Solon was threatening with a runner on second base and only one out when a Solon batter hit a line drive. Mentor shortstop Lindsey Valvoda caught the ball and then dove and tagged the Solon runner, ending the game on a double play.

Freshman Pitcher Allison Golic held Solon's tough lineup in check most of the day, giving up only a solo home run to the Comets' Kristen Confroy.
