Mentor Soccer Beats Strongsville, Claims Division Championship

The team is 11-0-4 on the season after the 3-2 victory.

The Mentor boys soccer team beat Strongsville Tuesday and claimed the 2013 Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division championship.

The team remains undefeated after the 3-2 victory, with an 11-0-4 record on the season. Jake Lombardo, Evan Powell and Colin Eedy scored goals for the Cardinals. Goalkeeper Matt Markiewicz was credited with three saves, according to Cleveland.com.

Amherst Steele is next up for the Cardinals at 7 p.m. Saturday at home.

The team will host a second-round district tournament game the following Saturday, Oct. 19, against the winner of Riverside-Euclid matchup in the first round.
