Mentor Routs Brunswick, 45-3

The team is 6-1 on the season.

The Mentor Cardinals have reached a level of offensive prowess where the team can put up 45 points and still feel like it should have scored more.

"I thought we were really good on defense, especially in the secondary,” coach Steve Trivisonno told OhioVarsity.com. “Offensively, I was a little disappointed that we coasted in the second quarter and left about three scores out there. That was really all we said at halftime was that it was time to go out and get after it in the second half and they really did that."

The Cardinals beat Brunswick 45-3, routing a team that was 4-2 and had defeated previously unbeaten Elyria last week.

Mentor's usual suspects led the team to victory. Quarterback Conner Krizancic completed 15 of 21 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns, along with 91 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Running back/wide receiver Eddie Daugherty had 126 total yards. Wide receiver Brandon Fritts had two touchdowns following a few quiet weeks.

"It feels good to get in the end zone after a little bit of frustration the past few weeks, but the offense is clicking now and the defense is playing unbelievably well,” Fritts said. "We feel like we are playing good football, but we have a long way to go. We came out flat in that second quarter and only had 14 points at halftime. That’s not us.

"We know we have to be better than that. But, we like we are heading right now."

Mentor is 6-1 on the season and travels to Solon next Friday.
