Mentor Manhandles Medina

The 38-point victory lifts Mentor to first place in the Valley Division of the NOC

Hours before the Mentor boys basketball team took on Medina, head coach Bob Krizancic tweeted that the outcome would hinge on "how hard we play/how tough we want to be."

After winning by nearly 40 points, it's safe to say Krizancic saw what he hoped for out of his boys.

The Cardinals crushed Medina, 95-57. With a 6-1 record in the Northeast Ohio Conference, Mentor stands alone in first place in the Valley Division.

Overall, Mentor is 16-3. Next week the boys have big conference matchups against Shaker Heights and Garfield Heights.

“That was our best team effort of the year, especially defensively,” Krizancic told Ohio Varsity. “We needed a good night going into Shaker Heights/Garfield Heights week and we got it.

"I thought the guys really responded after playing a really poor game on Tuesday (against Strongsville).”

Jeff Foreman led the Cardinals with 20 points, while Caleb Potter had 18.

“We’re getting healthier and we’re getting smarter,” Krizancic said. “I thought Foreman did a great job defensively. He’s also had three solid games in a row with the ball. He’s becoming better and better as a point guard.”
