Mentor Honors Great Teams, Players & Coaches on Wall of Fame

Athletic Director Jeff Casella hopes for visits from some of the legends throughout the season to honor them at home games.

A look up above Jerome T. Osborne Stadium's bleachers at Friday night's game will show fans several slices of Mentor Football history.

The Cardinals are honoring some of their greats throughout the season with the presence of permanent signs representing some of the winningest teams, players and coaches. Current coach Steve Trivisonno tweeted a picture of a couple of the signs earlier this week, dubbing the collection the Mentor Football Wall of Fame.

Athletic Director Jeff Casella said there are no formal plans for the wall during Friday's game, but he hopes some of the players and coaches will come back at different points of the season to be honored.

Dan Ryczek, Rick GalbosPaul RyczekDon MartinTom BarndtBob HallenBart Tanksi and Mitch Trubisky are the players whose painted replica jerseys are seen on the wall just under the press box, according to Ohio Varsity.

Coaches Dick Crum and Dr. Lee Tressel are also honored.

Here are the teams on the wall:

  • 1955 (10-0)
  • 1968 (10-0)
  • 2003 (10-1)
  • 2006 (13-2, state runner-up)
  • 2007 (11-3, state runner-up)
  • 2012 (12-2, state semifinalist)
