Mentor High Gymnast Kayla Kosmerl Top In State

Mentor team earns runner-up title at state competition

Mentor senior Kayla Kosmerl, as well as the entire gymnastics team, raised the bar during the state championship this week.

Kosmerl won the all-around competition on Saturday, becoming the first Mentor High gymnast to ever do that.

Kosmerl was first on bars. She also placed in the beam, vault and floor exercise events.

Kosmerl has had an incredible senior season. She also won the all-around at and .

Her teammate, Alex Aiello, was runner-up in the vault during the individual competition.

She fell just .325 points of sixth place in the all-around, according to The News-Herald.

Mentor's Allie Arthur also competed in the all-around competition.

Additionally, teammates Brittany Adkins, Sarah Butterfield and Lauren Cannon helped contribute in the team competition.
