Mentor Boys Soccer Beats Amherst Steele, 8-1

The conference champion boys will move on to the sectionals tournament next weekend.

The Mentor boys soccer team finished the year without a loss after beating Amherst Steele, 8-1 on Saturday.

The conference champion Mentor Cardinals finished the season with a record of 12-0-4. They are the No. 1 seed in the Euclid District of the Division I Sectionals Tournament. The team will host a second-round sectional tournament game Saturday, Oct. 19, against the winner of Riverside-Euclid matchup in the first round.

Jake Lombardo had four goals in the victory, while Evan Powell, Tim Noll, Eric Goldstein and Ryan Brass each scored one.
