Lake Catholic Wrestler Wins State Championship

Anthony Tutolo comes out on top in his second-straight trip to states

A Lake Catholic High School junior claimed the top spot in this weekend's Division II state wrestling tournament.

Anthony Tutolo won the 126-pound championship after defeating Mike Rix of St. Vincent-St. Mary, 6-4. As a team, Lake Catholic took 12th place in the tournament, according to OHSAA's final standings.

"Everything that I've been working for, all that extra practice, it helped me come through," Anthony told The News-Herald after the win. "It's exactly what I dreamed of as a little kid, watching everybody reach their dreams.

"Now I'm doing it. I can't believe it. It's a great feeling."

It was Anthony's second straight trip to states.

Teammates Brad Taton and Jimmy Szep each finished in seventh place in the 113-pound and 195-pound classes, respectively.
