ODNR Stocking Rainbow Trout in Ohio Lakes and Ponds again

The ODNR started the stocking program March 8th and will stock many lakes and ponds, including Veterans Park on April 18th.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) is planning its spring rainbow trout releases again for ponds and lakes, which started March 8th.

Rumors floated that the remodeling project at the Castalia State Fish Hatchery in Erie may continue to impact the spring release. These rumors were swirling with other ones concerning budget cuts.

Despite the rumors the forecast looks good. In 2011, the ODNR released 80,700 trout into Ohio ponds and lakes. In 2012, that number will increase to 96,000 trout.
