Video: Special Night for Students With Special Needs

Students from Broadmoor and other Lake County schools celebrated prom at Lakeland Community College

More than 100 special-needs students from , Lake Education Service Center, Riverside, Mentor, Willoughby-Eastlake and Perry High schools gathered Friday evening at Lakeland Community College.

The college's coffee shoppe, Breakers, was transformed into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory and students had been invited to the dance with golden tickets hidden inside of candy bars.

Students dressed in prom finery, posed for professional photos and danced through the evening.

Several students from county schools volunteered to help at prom and serve as dates.

"Prom is such a special time in a young person’s life. It means so much to be able to work with the various schools to provide such an event," said Sharon Scott, a teacher at Broadmoor School.
