State Gives Mentor Schools 'Excellent with Distinction' Grade

Mentor Schools couldn't have done a better job on its state report card.

The district received the highest possible grade — Excellent with Distinction — on its Ohio Department of Education report card for 2011-2012. ODE posted cards Wednesday for 610 districts across the state on its website.

Mentor met all 26 of the state's indicators. That means that the district achieved or surpassed goals associated with the percentage of students who were at least proficient in their testing, attendance and graduation rates.

"The district’s administration is extremely proud of our staff and students, and the hard work they put into the classroom each and every day to reach this tremendous accomplishment," reads a statement on the district's website. "The district also extends a thank you to our students’ parents and guardians and community members for being supportive and encouraging of the great work happening in Mentor Schools."

Mentor is also the only district in Lake County to meet both Adequate Yearly Progress and earn above the Value-Added Measure.
